Neurosurgical Services
Dr. Post provides surgical care for a range of complex neurological and spinal conditions.
Specialized Care for Brain, Spine & Peripheral Nerve Conditions
Every patient’s condition is different. Dr. Nicholas Post begins with a careful review of your medical history, symptoms, diagnostic imaging, and previous treatments. When appropriate, non-surgical options are considered first. If surgery is recommended, you’ll receive a clear explanation of the procedure, expected recovery, and available alternatives.
Complex Spine Surgery
Spine surgery may be recommended when pain, weakness, nerve compression, spinal instability, or other conditions do not improve with conservative treatment. Dr. Post provides surgical care for complex cervical and lumbar spine conditions.
Services may include:
- Cervical and lumbar fusion
- Laminectomy and decompression
- Cervical disc replacement
- Foraminotomy
- Lateral spine approaches
- Posterior spine approaches
Your treatment plan is based on your symptoms, imaging, overall health, and individual needs.
Spinal Deformity Correction
Adult scoliosis and kyphosis can affect mobility, comfort, posture, and daily activities. Complex spinal deformities may require detailed planning and a coordinated surgical approach.
Dr. Post evaluates spinal alignment and develops treatment recommendations based on the severity and nature of the deformity. Complex reconstructions may be performed using a collaborative approach with other spine specialists when appropriate.
Brain Tumor Surgery
A brain tumor diagnosis can be overwhelming. Surgical treatment depends on factors such as the tumor’s location, size, type, and relationship to surrounding brain structures.
Dr. Post provides surgical management for selected benign and malignant brain tumors, drawing on his background in academic neuro-oncology. He works to give patients a clear understanding of their diagnosis and treatment options before surgery is considered.
Peripheral Nerve Disorders
Compressed or damaged nerves can cause pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, and changes in hand or arm function. When symptoms persist or nerve compression requires surgical treatment, an appropriate procedure may help relieve pressure on the affected nerve.
Dr. Post evaluates and treats conditions including:
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Ulnar neuropathy
- Nerve compression syndromes
- Other peripheral nerve entrapment disorders
Treatment recommendations depend on your symptoms, examination findings, diagnostic testing, and the severity of nerve compression.
Traumatic Brain Injury
Head injuries can range from mild trauma to serious conditions requiring urgent neurosurgical care. Dr. Post’s experience in neurosurgical trauma includes managing complex head injuries and their neurological consequences.
He previously served in a leadership role in neurosurgical trauma at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, providing experience with high-acuity neurological injuries.
Independent Medical Evaluations
Dr. Post also provides independent evaluations for selected personal injury, workers’ compensation, and no-fault cases.
These evaluations may involve reviewing medical records, diagnostic imaging, treatment history, and other relevant information to provide an objective medical assessment and documentation.
A Thoughtful Approach to Treatment
Surgery is not always the first answer. Dr. Post takes time to understand your condition and considers the full picture before making a recommendation.
When surgery is appropriate, you’ll have an opportunity to understand:
- What is causing your symptoms
- Whether surgery may help
- What procedure is being considered
- Potential risks and benefits
- Other available treatment options
- What to expect during recovery
The goal is to give you the information you need to make an informed decision about your care
